Wheres Norm? Steak n Shake, Springfield, Missouri on June
2nd, 2007.
Low-key
cruise-ins are often as much fun as big productions.
From April through October the Steak n Shake on Glenstone invites car
enthusiasts to gather in their parking lot. As
expected the vehicles cover a broad range of automotive special interests. Where else would you see Norms Puke Truck
parked next to a retired SCCA championship winning Viper?
This pairing is likely to happen again though.
The Viper belongs to Razorback Rides owner, Cheryl Peterson. She bought it from Dr. Kevin Huston (who
raced it as number 18). He also introduced
her to Norm. Kevin purchased the car directly
from Bobby Archer after Archer won his SCCA championship with the car (number 32 when
raced by Archer). Not a bad street machine. On hand were a few traditional hot rods. Including a healthy sounding T-Bucket. Wed see the Chevy truck again at the end of the Hot Rod Power Tour.
Sixties and seventies muscle make a good showing as well as some vintage rides that would not typically be called hot rods.
Lincoln gears are not hard to find at any rod event but the Lincoln is usually nowhere to be seen.
All in all the first Saturday of the month at Steak n' Shake is a tasty cruise-in.
